THE DEFILED Signs With IN AT THE DEEP END RECORDS

July 29, 2009

London, U.K. metallers THE DEFILED will release their mini-album, "1888", on October 5 via In At The Deep End Records. The five-track EP was recorded at Metropolis Studios and is "loosely themed around Jack the Ripper," bassist Drex Exel told ThrashHits.com. "We're a London band and it's hard not to be drawn in by the imagery of our city's heritage. I think that's the joy of being in a metal band — you can theme your music around the most ridiculous subjects and still get away with it, and you don't get that with any other genre."

Regarding the band's new record deal, THE DEFILED stated, "[In At The Deep End's] track record says it all really and we couldn't be happier than to be associated with a label that’s released records by the likes of GALLOWS, SYLOSIS, SHAPED BY FATE, ROMEO MUST DIE, SEND MORE PARAMEDICS, ARCHITECTS and the list goes on. To release our debut CD through a label that is run off of a passion for good music is a huge privilege and we can't thank them enough for helping us out with the release."

THE DEFILED has been added to the lineup at this year's Sonisphere festival at Knebworth, U.K. The band will perform on the recently announced Jagermeister stage on Sunday, August 2. The group states, "We're psyched to get the chance to play a killer festival and be on the same bill as bands like METALLICA and NINE INCH NAILS; it's fucking amazing! It was certainly good news to get while being away in Germany in the rain fresh after being arrested!"
